Both Courses start Monday 16th August and run for 18 weeks. Flexible study options &#45;&amp;nbsp;Classes are held Mondays to Thursdays and students can choose to enrol into afternoon classes (12:00pm &#45; 2:00pm) or evening classes (6:00pm &#45; 8:00pm)
Certificate in Speaking and Living English LEVEL 3
This course begins Tuesday 9th August and runs for 18 weeks. Classes are held twice a week &#45; Tuesdays and Thursday mornings 9:30am &#45; 12:30pm.



This week signals the beginning of the second semester for most of our Pacific Language classes.
For those students from our First Semester classes who wish to gain more experience, proficiency and confidence in that same class, please feel free to re&#45;join that class.

      <description>{summary}When Pasifika Education Centre (formerly known as PIERC Education)&amp;nbsp;was established in 1975,&amp;nbsp;a mandate was issued by the Government of the day wherein PEC&amp;nbsp;was to preserve, maintain and promote indigenous Pacific Languages.&amp;nbsp;Now, 34 years later, Pasifika Education Centre are proud to still be here offering FREE Pacific Language and Culture classes to the Adult Community. New Zealand is increasingly becoming a more multicultural city so the knowledge of a Pacific language allows one to be more welcoming of other peoples and cultures. Our classes are free, taught by well qualified and experienced tutors and are held in various community centres around Auckland. If you are over the age of 16 we invite you to find a suitable class and join!!

Afioga Tofaeono Tanuvasa Tavale tutors the learners in advanced Samoan and culture. He recently coordinated the &amp;lsquo;ava ceremony for Hon Fiame Naomi Mataafa, the Minister of Women, Community and Social Development when she was a keynote speaker at the ACE sector national conference hosted by ACE Aotearoa at Manukau Institute of Technology, July 2008.Afioga Tofaeono Tanuvasa Tavale has been bestowed with eight matai titles and is of high standing in the Samoan and Catholic communities. Tofaeono has a long association with the Pasifika Education Centre as a Samoan Language Tutor and author of numerous books published in collaboration with on Samoan language and culture. He has 46 years of experience in teaching at all levels and is an expert in the teaching of the Samoan language. Tofaeono is the President of the FAGASA Association (Faalapotopotoga e A&#39;oa&#39;oina le Gagana Samoa ma le Aganu&#39;u i Aukilani) in Auckland and is the current President of the Auckland Samoan Catholic Community. He is also a member of the Toa Pacific Reference Group [Treasuring Adults and Pacific Aiga Carers].
Mele Fakatali NemaiaMele is the Head Tutor for the Vagahau Niue Niuean language programme offered by the Pasifika Education Centre in South Auckland. She captures her students with Niuean song and dance and a very intensive language class with up to 30 students in one session! Born, raised and educated in Niue, Mele has taught for 23 years in schools throughout Auckland. Mele&amp;rsquo;s qualifications include a BEd, Higher Diploma of Education, National Diploma of TESSOL, and a Post&#45;Graduate Diploma towards a Master of Education. She is also:Member of&amp;nbsp; the Pasifika Advisory Group to the Ministry of EducationMember of the Language Learning Serials with Learning Media &amp;ndash; Niue LanguageTeacher of the ATPL class at Favona School &amp;ndash; Niue Language &amp;ndash; Ministry of Education ProjectSecretary to the NZEI &amp;ndash; Auckland Komiti Pasifika Education Centre
Lolohea TupouniuaLolohea teaches the Lea Faka&#45;Tonga for Pasifika Education Centre. She has a long history as an educator having taught&amp;nbsp;at all levels&amp;nbsp;of the Tongan Education System including the Teachers Training College of Tonga. Lolohea&#39;s voice was heard across Tonga&#39;s airwaves as she used to teach ESOL lessons over radio. When Lolohea arrived in New Zealand in 2003 she continued her on&#45;air style of language teaching, this time teaching the Tongan language on Planet FM&#39;s &quot;Maile &#39;o Telusa&quot; Tongan Radio Program. Listeners are still able to tune into Planet FM&#39;s 104.6 FM frequency to catch her Tongan Language lessons at the following times: Mondays 12:15 &#45; 12:30pm and Fridays 6:30 &#45; 6:45 am. Lolohea is also a skilled producer of Tapa&#45;cloths and has facilitated many workshops demonstrating this traditional Tongan art. She has been&amp;nbsp;a Tutor for Pasifika Education Centre since 2007 teaching the Tongan language at Beginners and Intermediate level.
Tarisi Sorovi VunidiloTarisi is one of our Fijian Language Tutors. With an extensive background in Education including Post Grad qualifications in Archaeology (ANU), Maori and Pacific Development (Waikato) and currently completing&amp;nbsp;a Masters in Social Science at Waikato, Tarisi works as a Pacific Arts Program Advisor for Creative NZ. She spent 6 years at the Museum of Fiji, including 8 months as the director before she moved to New Zealand where she has also worked for Te Papa Museum and Waikato Museum. Having published numerous articles in journals and presented papers at various conferences Tarisi has also written and translated a bilingual book on Lapita Pottery aimed at children and learners of the Fijian Language. A very busy community worker Tarisi has also held the following positions: Fijian dance Choreographer, Social Worker, Dance Judge, University lecturer and TV presenter.
