


The Pasifika Education Centre crown entity status means that Board members are appointed by Ministers of Education and Pacific Island Affairs. The Board is made up of five members.

CLYDE YOUNG
Chairperson
Clyde Young is a chartered accountant with strong experience in management advice and governance. He has been a partner at accountancy firm O'Halloran HMT since 1995 and managing partner since 2000. Prior to that he was Head of Commerce at Otahuhu College. He was born in Samoa where he attended Apia Primary and Chanel College. He immigrated to New Zealand in 1965, where he attended Avondale College, and subsequently qualifying with a Bachelor of Commerce from Auckland University. He is currently a board member of Enterprising Manukau, a member of Fono Faufautua - Unitec Pasifika Council, council member of the New Zealand Pacific Business Council and is a trustee of the Samoan Sports Association.

Afioga Tofaeono Tanuvasa Tavale is of Samoan descent bestowed with eight matai titles and of high standing in the Samoan and Catholic community. Tofaeono has a long association with PEC as a Samoan Language Tutor and author of numerous books published of PEC on Samoan language and culture. He has 46 years of experience in teaching at all levels and is an expert in the teaching of the Samoan language. Tofaeono is the President of the FAGASA Association (Faalapotopotoga e a'oa'oina le gagana Samoa ma le aganu'u i Aukilani) in Auckland and is the current President of the Auckland Samoan Catholic Community.
NEVILLE WILSON
Neville Wilson is originally from Fiji, having come to New Zealand permanently in 1995. He has had a career that has been associated with training in a number of environments, and is an experienced administrator and project manager in both church and other organisations. Mr Wilson joined the Habitat for Humanity New Zealand National office in September 2000. He is now the Affiliate Development Manager and is the Chairman of the Habitat Affiliate in Rotorua.
PANU RAEA
Panu Raea has served on the PEC Board for over three years. He has three major academic qualifications from the University of Auckland including a Bachelor of Town Planning, Bachelor of Law and a Masters in Law. Currently Mr Raea is General Manager Health and Safety, Environment and Risk at Carter Holt Harvey. Last year at the Pacific Business Trust Awards, Panu's outstanding leadership was recognized and was awarded the Pacific Business Leader Award. Under Panu's leadership, Carter Holt Harvey has exceeded a year on year 15% reduction in recordable injuries and lost time accidents as well as an equal reduction in recordable environmental incidents.
ROSEMARY FITZPATRICK
Rosemary is of Samoan descent and has been a PEC trustee since 1997. Since 2002, Rosemary has been a consultant for Teuila Consultancy working on numerous projects for the Ministry of Education. Rosemary has a Bachelor of Commerce, a Diploma in Teaching and is a Chartered Accountant. Her 15 year educational experience is complimented by eight year experience in Financial management.
